Nathan Bender

Though I started TropiCAD in 2018, I have 33+ years of AutoCAD software development experience, including 29 as an Autodesk employee, writing ObjectARX code and internal AutoCAD features.

I got my start with AutoCAD and AutoLISP straight out of school, building AutoCAD apps for customers like 3M.  I wrote the first commercially available sheet metal flat-pattern layout program for AutoCAD in 1988.  I've worked with (or on) every version of AutoCAD since 2.14.

In 1989 Autodesk hired me, and I worked on AME, the first solid-modeler inside AutoCAD.  I wrote many AutoCAD features over the years, including non-rectangular viewports (patent granted), multiple paperspace layouts, and many view-related enhancements.  I am very familiar with AutoCAD APIs, and wrote a number of them myself.

I also spent time working on AutoCAD for Web, and Fusion 360's Drawings feature, and AutoCAD for Mac.

Now I'm back to my first love: solving customer problems, by creating custom CAD solutions to meet your needs.  No project is too small or too big - I have other developers I can pull in when needed.  Let's talk about how I can make you more efficient with an AutoCAD solution designed just for you.

I speak the language of engineers (I was an Architecture major before Computer Science), and I'm happy to come to you to fully understand your requirements.

P.S. It's " TropiCAD" because the beach (anywhere below 30°N) is where I prefer to spend my time when not solving customer problems.  And the hat goes with me everywhere.
